The technicians and designers at Abtec have the discipline and talent to take on any plastic injection molding project. As a leader in the plastic molding industry, we produce the highest quality plastic molded components and parts. Since the introduction of injection molding in the middle of the first industrial revolution, plastic molding has become the foundation of modern product production. Its speed, high tolerances, and dimensional accuracy has made it an essential part of a wide range of industries.
Why are Plastic Parts Produced Using Plastic Injection Molding?
Aside from the obvious aesthetic benefits of plastic injection molding, there are several characteristics, properties, and features of components that are best achieved using plastic injection molding. As every industrial leader can tell you, the main emphasis in modern manufacturing is speed and accuracy. Although this may seem to be as simple as increasing the rate of production, there are several other factors that are considered as the volume of production increases.
The first consideration, and main attribute of Abtec, is high volume must include high-quality. Our team of high-volume plastic injection molding experts work diligently to ensure that every component, part, and workpiece meets the high standards for which Abtec is known. This is especially true with high volume plastic injection molding where plastic resin is injected, pressured, solidified, and released in one fluid and smooth process. Every formed component, from the first pressure formed one to the last one out of the mold cavity, has the same tolerance and dimensional accuracy that is expected of Abtec parts & components.
The Benefits of High-Volume Injection Molding
Many companies partner with Abtec to produce thousands and millions of parts and components. The hardened steel molds of high-volume plastic injection molding have the capacity and strength to meet the requirements of the process. It is their endurance that is an important part of the success of high-volume plastic injection molding.
Advantages of Abtec High-Volume Plastic Injection Molding:
- Quantities – High-volume injection molding produces many thousands of components in a relatively short period of time. Depending on the configuration and complexity of a part, Abtec can produce hundreds or thousands of a component per hour with cycle times of 10 seconds up to 60 seconds.
- Mold Design – An important factor regarding the cycle times and thousands of parts made per hour is the design of the mold with its multiple cavities. Using the latest computer software, the engineers at Abtec produce a 3D computer rendering of the injection mold. Working with our clients, the mold is built to meet a client’s parameters and expectations.
- After the design has been approved, the tooling experts at Abtec use the 3D computer design to craft, shape, and manufacture the injection mold. They use the highest quality steel to produce molds that can withstand the thousands of parts produced per hour. At completion of the hardening process, the mold is ready for production.
- Cost – Every manager knows that the key to the success of a product is controlling its cost. This particular aspect of high-volume injection molding is the reason for its popularity. As the number of units per hour increases, the cost of each unit decreases. In essence, high volume means lower costs, which can easily be calculated by taking the overall cost and dividing it by the number of units produced.
- Efficiency – The rate at which parts and components are produced by high volume injection molding requires the most up to date and technologically advanced equipment in the plastic molding industry. One of the reasons for the success of Abtec is due to our ability to keep up with the changing trends in plastic injection automation, which lowers labor costs and ensures efficiency.
- Precision – The quality of products produced by Abtec high volume injection molding is unmatched in the injection molding industry. High tolerance and exceptional dimensional accuracy are the trademarks of Abtec’s high volume plastic injection molding process.
- Lead Times – Another aspect of modern industry is lead times. High volume plastic injection molding makes it possible for Abtec to deliver parts and components to our clients on time, every time. The speed at which parts are produced is unmatched by any other production method. Thousands or millions of parts can be produced and shipped in a few days.
Abtec is proud of the relationship we have formed with our clients over the years. We strictly adhere to their wishes and work diligently to fulfill all of their needs and requirements. Our high-volume injection molding process is another Abtec advantage that benefits our customers and their customers, a factor that is essential for 21st century success.
High Volume Plastic Injection Molding Process
High volume plastic injection molding is an exceptionally efficient way to produce high quality parts in a short period of time. Abtec has been successful for years in producing high volumes of components and parts due to its strict adherence to its quality standards and the technical skills of our highly trained staff. The many steps of high-volume plastic injection molding involve attention to detail and Abtec’s quality standards.
- Step One – The first step in high-volume plastic injection molding is the collaboration of Abtec engineers with Abtec clients. Design requirements, material selection, and product specifications are clearly defined and outlined.
- Step Two – Once the intricacies of the mold design are completed, Abtec tooling experts create the mold using the 3D computer rendering. The mold is produced with the required dimensional tolerances and accuracy.
- Step Three – Mounting the mold on the injection plastic molding machine is the initial step in the production process. All molds have two halves labeled A-side and B-side. The A-side, or fixed side of the mold, is attached to the press of a molding machine. The B-side is attached to the moving clamp side of the press that contains ejection pins.
- Step Four – When the mold is securely in place, molten plastic is injected into it, allowed to solidify, which leads to a completed part being ejected. The process is repeated over and over until the necessary quantities are realized.
Every step of the Abtec high volume injection molding process is carefully examined, checked, and monitored to ensure the highest quality of parts and components. The experts at Abtec pride themselves on their ability to produce high volume moldings, in a short time, at the highest level of quality.
When to Choose Abtec High Volume Plastic Injection Molding
High volume injection molding is a specialized molding process that requires close consideration. There are certain parameters that demand and require the use of high-volume plastic injection molding. They are:
Production Requirements – When production needs are over 50,000 units, it is best to contact the experts at Abtec to help with preparing for high volume injection molding.
Cost – Abtec high volume injection molding can significantly lower the per unit cost of a component, which lowers the overall cost of a product.
Demand Patterns – The demand for a product necessitates the use of high-volume injection molding. As a product is introduced to the market, its initial sales may be low. An examination of trends can indicate that there will be increased demand requiring the use of high-volume injection molding.
Sales Goals – Projected sales goals require an increase in production, a factor that indicates the need for the production of more components and parts.
